The City & Guilds Centre for Skills Development (CSD) was
offically launched on Wednesday 12th March 2008 by
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh KG KT Hon FCGI.
We are committed to improving the policy and practice of skills
education and training internationally. Our vision is a world in
which everyone can access the skills and learning needed for
economic and individual prosperity.
The CSD has published the findings of its
international research project, Skills Development: Attitudes
& Perceptions. The report examines current
issues faced by those with a stake in skills training around the

Anastasia de Waal, Head of Family and Education at the think tank Civitas has spoken out at the current inferior representation of vocational courses.
Japan, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) are launching a major study which highlights the importance of expanding regional technical and vocational education and training programs in the Pacific Islands.
The final draft of the country’s National Skills Development Policy is to be placed before the Union cabinet. The policy is aiming to bridge the growing mismatch between skills and the nature of jobs available, through short-term vocational courses.
