To support the British Council’s Skills for Employability (SfE)

Poor links between industry and schools
in Hyderabad have contributed to a mismatch between learner career
expectations and the needs of local industry. We partnered with
CfBT Education Trust to address this through supporting
greater involvement of local industry in school-based career and
learning development.

Skills Development: Attitudes &
Perceptions [International]
The City & Guilds Centre for Skills Development launched its
first programme of work early in 2008. Our first priority was
to understand the current issues by listening to those with a stake
in vocational education and training. To this end, we commissioned
an extensive consultation survey in nine countries: Australia,
Canada, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, India, Malaysia, South Africa
and the UK.

The City & Guilds Centre for Skills
Development conducted this research in order to develop a better
understanding of the ways in which organisations train: the types
of companies which are more likely to engage in training, together
with the kind of workers who are more likely to be given
training.
