Our mission is:

To influence and improve the skills policy and practice worldwide through an evidence-based approach.

Our vision is that we envisage a world in which all people can access the skills and learning needed for economic and personal well-being. By supporting the improvement of policy and practice in vocational education and training, we can work towards making this vision a reality.

Our five principal aims are to:

  • Advance knowledge through research and development.
  • Build networks of expertise through partnerships in order to create effective global vocational education and training communities.
  • Improve practice through the design and evaluation of high quality vocational education and training and through delivery of related programmes and projects.
  • Encourage participation by fostering motivation and increasing the recognition of skills.
  • Promote skills and encourage the active engagement of industry and commerce in shaping the use of skills and learning within and beyond the workplace.

We value transparent, honest contact with our partners and stakeholders, and consistency in our words and actions. Our work is driven by collaboration and consultation with the vocational skills community. At the heart of our business is the belief that innovation and engagement are the keys to driving positive change.
