Haryana aims to be “India’s show-window for technical
education” [India]
Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister of the
State of Haryana, has announced plans to double the number of
technical education seats available in the State and to open an
“education city” at Kundli, 25 km from Delhi. The State aims to
have 100,000 places available in technical institutes by 2010 and
to open an additional 50 private engineering colleges. The State
authorities also plan to prioritise educational facilities tailored
for the armed forces, setting up India’s first Defence University
in the State.
